AUGMENTED/VIRTUAL REALITY WINNER 2016 WORLD CUP TECH CHAMPION IRISTEC (CANADA)
Screen-staring is a part of professional life—but instead of creating a new app or program to look at, World Cup Tech champions IRYSTEC are working to revolutionize the screen itself. Mobile and VR displays are almost always too bright, causing eye strain and eye fatigue. Irystec's Simon Morris demonstrated how their revolutionary software solves these problems by intelligently adjusting contrast and color, leading the way in perceptual computational display technology.
MONTREAL'S QUIET LEADERS IN VIRTUAL REALITY
While not explicitly developing a VR headset or VR content, Montreal’s IRYSTEC is developing perceptual computational display technology. In other words, the company claims it’s revolutionizing the viewing experience for portable displays.
IRYSTEC Ambient Intelligent algorithms ensure that the perceived quality of content is preserved, retained and enhanced in: dark environments, bright environments and high reflecting environments.
IRYSTEC boasts it’s PowerSave technology: Ambient Intelligent Algorithms aimed at consumer electronics, like mobile, tablets, laptops, virtual reality and more. PowerSave saves display power by over 70 per cent by reducing luminance levels while maintaining readability and improving viewing comfort.

IRYSTEC CHOSEN BY VENTURE RADAR AS ONE OF THE HOT NEW COMPANIES TO WATCH OUT FOR!
As part of our Hot New Companies series we’re taking a closer look at IRYSTEC, a startup founded in Canada in 2015 with the goal of revolutionizing the viewing experience for portable displays.
IRYSTEC is addressing three high level complaints that are common among users of mobile displays: eye fatigue caused by using devices for a long time; high battery consumption; and low display quality. IRYSTEC has categorized these complaints into three abstract level problems develops a single integrated solution to solve them in real-time, which the company describes as a ‘Perceptual Display Engine’. The company’s technology roadmap will address each area in turn.
